ClassWork

In this post I will be going through all the work I forgot to document from the classes.

Skinning:

I found a skin on the internet for the deathstar from http://www.scifi3d.com/download.asp?intGenreID=10&intCatID=41&filekey=248&key=148

I then pressed M to access the material editor from here I can apply changes to the objects I create.

After selecting a swatch go down to the diffuse box and select the box next to it.

Select Bitmap from the drop down menu that appears.

After selecting the image you want as your texture it will appear here.
Apply it to your model.

Unrenderd.
At this point I got concerned that it hadn't effected the model but the solution was that the model had not been rendered.
Rendered

Creating a sky dome:

First make a plain area and put a GeoSphere on it making sure not to cover the whole plain.

After checking the Hemisphere box it will look like the picture above.
After the skydome is ready making it look more realistic by making it flatter on the Z axis.

Attempting to create my exploding planet.

Created a standard GeoSphere.

In create change standard primitives to Particle Systems and select the PArray, Then in the modifier list Pick Object and choose the GeoSphere then in the particle type section make sure the minimum number of chunks is 100. then in the create drop down menu select
extended primitives > ringwave

after creating the ringwave scale it too fit within your GeoSphere,

Now Change the Cell Colour and the Division Colour and also the Cell characteristics size too 14 spread to 0.75 now check the fractal box and change the iteration to 4

Click on Go to Parent then select opacity and select Gradient from the list for this we will leave all the settings the way they are.

After turning on the auto key animation tool and moving the keyframe to 25 go to the RingWave modifier and change the radius to 325.

I then went too Create > SpaceWarp > Geometry/Deformable then toggled Bomb on and created one at the centre of the GeoSphere after creating the bomb I then joint it too the GeoSphere with the Bind too SpaceWarp tool then choosing the bomb and dragging the line to the GeoSphere.

Now the GeoSphere will explode and the shock wave will also come flying out. I may work on this some more soon adding some more particles, blur amongst other things as it is very basic currently.
